Capes as worn by men, had been around for a long time and had been in and out of fashion every now and then. Are they due for a comeback any time soon? Will you invest in one?
Women have always been able to wear capes in a normal setting. But if you’re a man; unless you’re Batman, Superman or going to any type of cosplay gathering, a cape will probably make you look silly.
In Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” video, we actually see a man in a cape. The video is set in present time. However, I doubt if anybody actually walks their dogs dressed like that.

Nobody has identified what brand the cape is (but many have posted that Taylor is wearing an Elie Saab gown, see related post about Elie Saab here). I checked some shopping websites (ok just one – lyst.com) to see if a cape similar to the one above is available.
Here’s what I found:
The most similar looking cape I found was that of Dolce & Gabbana. It’s sold out, so for sure there are cape-wearing men out there.

It looks better with a suit though. Wearing it with something casual will give you that Robin Hood vibe, and probably not in a good way.

Here is another cape from Saint Laurent Paris. The brand will not make something costume-y, right? (I’m being sarcastic here). The length of the cape makes it super-heroish in my opinion.

Here is another one from Saint Laurent Paris. You’re probably asking, “Does it come with a sword?”. Unfortunately, it doesn’t. It’s sold out so rest assured somebody is having a laugh somewhere in this world.

Here is a cape from Damir Dona. This is probably how a cape will look like in reality when you walk three (super excited) Dobermans in it.

Here is a tartan cape from Valentino. The most expensive in the bunch. I hope it comes with a matching umbrella. That would be cool. Oops sorry, its sold out.

Here is another cape by a brand called All. As per the description, the cape was inspired by the traditional riding suit worn by cyclists. I say it looks like what an spectator will wear in a rainy Tour de France – in yellow plastic! The designer must be proud of himself for putting that leather belt like fastener on the neck. He must getting high fives constantly from his peers.

This is a longer cape from Ktz. I don’t know what to say about this one. It will probably come in handy if you’re attending a graduation – as a graduate! It’s still available by the way.

The last one, and our most affordable, is a cape from a brand called Lac. I can see myself wearing this. Since it’s not that expensive, it will probably not give you buyer’s remorse when you finally realize that capes are not for you.

Will you invest in a cape? Since most of the capes I featured had been sold out, many had already beaten you to it. They may have first-mover’s advantage… or not.
