Will You Buy Property that Sits on a T – Junction?

I have been trying to buy some real estate. I have been offered a piece of lot at a very nice gated community, developed and managed by a very reputable community, and near good schools, business, shopping and recreation establishments. The lot is also much cheaper (on a per square meter basis) compared to other lots in the village. The title and other documents are all clean and in order.

The lot is almost perfect… except for one flaw. The lot faces a road. It sits on a t-junction/ t-intersection. If you were in my place, would you invest in this lot?

To a Sabbatical and Back

I disappeared from my blog for about two months. Before I left, I was posting almost everyday – which got less frequent as I was about to disappear. I got burned out with blogging. How did it come to that point?

Thank You: Readers from 100 Countries Have Visited my Blog

After starting my blog last month, I didn’t really expect that people will read what I write. I didn’t even bother to actively promote my blog in social media because I didn’t want to get my hopes up.

A few days ago, after 40 days of blogging, my geoview stats in WordPress showed this:

Number of Countries in my Blog's Geoviews
100 countries and counting – I hope.  If you try to count them, they won’t add up to 100 since countries like Singapore and Monaco are too small to be seen in that map. Image from wordpress

“Spread” the Love: The Creator of Universally Loved Nutella Dies; Meanwhile, the World Still Hates Vegemite

On Valentine’s day, Michele Ferrero, Italy’s richest man, and the creator of Nutella, one of the world’s most loved bread spreads, died at the age of 89. In other news, another iconic spread, Vegemite, is still hated the world over.

Awesome Wedding: When the Bride Sings “It’s Not About the Money, Money, Money…” at the Reception to Set Things Straight With Her Groom’s Guests

Many people marry for love. Some people marry for money. It hurts though when you marry for love and people wrongly assume you’re marrying for money. What do you do and how do you do it? Set the record straight at the reception in grand style by singing “It’s not about the money, money, money” – from Jessie J’s Price Tag.

Deconstructing the Dunkin’ Donuts 3-3-12 Promo: How Much Did I Save and Why Dunkin Benefits More From the Deal

In this post, I am not just going to calculate the discount from a run-of-the-mill Dunkin’ Donuts food promo (because that would be too easy), but also try to connect it to the concept of self-interest and the invisible hand. By the way, this is NOT an advertorial. This is a legitimate post y’all.   I love donuts and I love promos more. Upon entering a neighborhood Dunkin’ Donuts (DNKN:US see latest stock quote), I planned to take out one – or maybe two – donuts home. However, I saw this poster.

Is this really a great deal? Poster of Dunkin’ donuts 3-3-12 promo. Image from official Dunkin’ Donuts Philippines twitter account

The franchise owner for Dunkin’ Donuts in the Philippines is Golden Donuts Incorporated. The promo price for this box of donuts is PHP 199 (USD 4.51). If I buy the donuts separately, this is what I’ll have to pay:

  • 3 premium donuts – PHP 35 each – total of  PHP 105
  • 3 regular donuts –     PHP 20 each – total of PHP 60
  • 12 munchkins –          PHP 4 each  –  total of PHP 48

Separately, the donuts cost a total of PHP 213, so there’s a savings of PHP 14 (USD 29 cents) or 6.6% with the promo. In my opinion, that small a discount is not really a good deal.
