With a Heavily Faked CDG Play Heart

Imitation is the best form of flattery. I’m sure this does not apply to trademarks and other intellectual properties. The Comme Des Garcon “GDG” Play line of apparel and accessories – specially the ones with the “heart face” – has been around for many years (since 1999 actually). However, it is only in recent months when I have seen a heavy presence of these CDG Play shirts.

Unfortunately, most of what I see are fakes.  Continue reading With a Heavily Faked CDG Play Heart

Will You Buy Property that Sits on a T – Junction?

I have been trying to buy some real estate. I have been offered a piece of lot at a very nice gated community, developed and managed by a very reputable community, and near good schools, business, shopping and recreation establishments. The lot is also much cheaper (on a per square meter basis) compared to other lots in the village. The title and other documents are all clean and in order.

The lot is almost perfect… except for one flaw. The lot faces a road. It sits on a t-junction/ t-intersection. If you were in my place, would you invest in this lot?

To a Sabbatical and Back

I disappeared from my blog for about two months. Before I left, I was posting almost everyday – which got less frequent as I was about to disappear. I got burned out with blogging. How did it come to that point?

Technically I’m still on a sabbatical, but I’m slowly emerging from it. Image from http://sd.keepcalm-o-matic.co.uk/

Networking at the Gym: The Do’s and Don’ts

Fitness gyms have now become popular places to network. Personally, I have made friends and business contacts in gyms with people that I won’t usually meet in my own professional circle. If networking will be one of your purposes in going to the gym, aside from staying fit of course, here are some of the things you should and should not do.

(Re)Born This Way: The Importance of Brand Reinvention

The image of a product, company, organization or individual might get tarnished, outdated, or irrelevant. This is when brand reinvention becomes necessary. When Lady Gaga received a standing ovation from Hollywood A Listers after she sang “The Sound of Music” medley at the Academy Awards, many observers saw that as the culmination of her reinvention.

When a brand loses a significant part of its relevance, fan base, or income – just like what Lady Gaga experienced in recent years – reinvention becomes necessary.  Continue reading (Re)Born This Way: The Importance of Brand Reinvention

To Celebrate EDSA 2015, Philippine Government “Recreates” Traffic Jam Scene from World War Z

Today is the 29th Anniversary of the People’s Power Revolution (also known as EDSA I locally, there are EDSA II and III revolutions as well) in the Philippines. The government decided to close a significant and centrally located part of EDSA (it is the main and busiest thoroughfare in Metro Manila) to celebrate the anniversary. Being a regular weekday, many people going to work were stuck in traffic for hours. The pile up of cars became similar to the traffic jam scene in World War Z  or that in The Dark Knight, whichever was worse.

To celebrate the anniversary of the EDSA I revolution, somebody had the bright idea of closing up a significant stretch of EDSA – on a busy workday! Continue reading To Celebrate EDSA 2015, Philippine Government “Recreates” Traffic Jam Scene from World War Z

Australian PM (sort of) Tells Indonesia: How Can You Kill Our Drug Traffickers? We Gave You a Lot of Money During the Tsunami

Two Australians Andrew Chan and Myaran Sukumaran, convicted of drug trafficking, are awaiting execution in Indonesia. In an effort to convince the Indonesian government to stay the execution, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said “Let’s not forget that a few years ago when Indonesia was struck by the Indian ocean tsunami, Australia sent a billion dollars worth of assistance”. Strong words or just plain horrible? What’s your say?
